Who We Are

We’re a team of licensed counselors who believe that everyone deserves a safe space to be heard. Whether you feel stuck in your grief or your loss is still fresh, we will work with you to find meaningful steps forward—together.

Our approach is warm, evidence-based, and tailored to support your grief process. From individual therapy to couples and family sessions, we are here to walk alongside you. No judgment—just genuine support.

Sea Haven Center for Grief & Healing grew from our founders’ own losses and deep grief. Their compassion and resolve are evident in the Center’s thoughtful design, attention to diverse needs, and ongoing dedication to building a caring community that honors loss and gently supports healing.

Kelly Quarles, LPC/S, co-founded Sea Haven Center for Grief & Healing with a deep commitment to helping others navigate loss with compassion and hope. Kelly integrates evidence-based therapy with Mindfulness practices. At Sea Haven, Kelly specializes in supporting couples and families as they learn to carry grief while continuing to heal and grow. She also leads many of the center's therapeutic support groups, grief-centered Mindfulness groups for children and adolescents, trainings and workshops, and restorative retreats. Kelly is a Nationally Certified Trauma Therapist who provides a grounded and supportive space for healing. Healing begins with feeling seen, supported and safely held, which is Kelly's commitment to you and your personal journey through grief. May this be a place where healing feels possible again.

While grief is personal and different for everyone, becoming more informed about grief helps us to feel less overwhelmed, scared, and alone when we inevitably find that it is our turn to grieve.

Marjorie Avent, LPC, is a co-founder of Sea Haven Center for Grief & Healing. She has spent the majority of her career walking alongside individuals and groups in grief, serving both as a therapist and as a former hospital chaplain. Her experience working in a community cancer center informs Marjorie’s work with persons facing issues of loss of identity, chronic pain and illness, and the grief and anxiety that accompany a life-altering medical diagnosis. In addition to seeing individual clients, Marjorie supports the administrative side of Sea Haven Center and serves as a group and retreat facilitator. Additionally, she maintains a private practice focused on women in midlife, exploring many themes that mirror the grief experience. Marjorie’s approach is deeply personal, compassionate, and grounded in her own grief practices– the ways she honors her losses and encounters grief in her daily life.
